Hi all, i've coughing and spluttering for two days now and driving the kids mad. I'm just wondering about my methotrexate if this could be a cause as i vaguely remember something about this when i started tsking it. I've been on it for 18 months now and never had any problems like this. Just wondered or could it just be the weather?? dawnybeeRollEyes

Hello Dawn,

I used to take mtx but stopped due to upset of the liver. Not sure about the cough
though.

I am sure someone will have ideas and knowledge.

Dawn

I have the "cough". It started at the weekend. I think there are viruses going around which culminate in a cough. I started off with a sore throat and thought it was the methotrexate so did not take it this weekend. The cough then developed and I have a slight sniffle. I also have been driving my family mad coughing at all hours. It is a little better today. Have taken loads of Corvonia for tickly coughs (other brands are availableBigGrin ). If it does not clear up in a week then a trip to the docs may be worth it.

Take care

Jackie

Hi Dawn,

Like Jackie I also had a sore throat then a head cold followed by a hacking cough, lasted two weeks. I missed out my MTX and also got antibiotics from my doctor, it was away after 2 weeks. Hope your feeling better soon.

Hi, I have mild asthma, but have been coughing, mainly at night now for the last month. I hadnt even thought about the mtx, I am on 25mg, have been since April. I dont have a cold or sore throat or anything else, so maybe it is the mtx. So hard to know with these things x

Hi Barbara,

The cough at night is a classic sign of Asthma, talk to your doctor or nurse. I too have asthma and have been like that when it needed managed better. I am ok now though so please get that one ruled out, before you worry about your MTX. Thinking about you Lorna x Smile

I've had a chesty cough for about 2 weeks now- started wth a cold. I kept dithering over whether I should go to the doc, or if it could be the mtx but just kept taking the covonia and finally it's easing.

It's not the cough that carries you off, it's the coffin they carry you off in!

You look after yourself Maria. Do you need someone to rub something into your chest?? Wink
